I’ve always shied away from moisturing everyday, in fear that it would exacerbate an already oily complexion. But it’s important to recognise the difference between oil and hydration. Hydration in particular can help soothe skin from harsh cleansers or blemish control solutions. Choosing the right moisturiser took me a while, switching between organic, oil free and acne prone solutions. The key is to hydrate, without clogging pores with excess oil which is why I often opt for oil-free moisturisers. Something else to look for is non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog your pores. 1. Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser
My current go-to moisturiser, leaves my skin feeling hydrated and does well to control oil throughout the day. It’s very gentle on the skin if you have sensitive skin. A little goes a long way too, so you won’t be constantly re-purchasing!
2. Amie Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser
This is by far the best for a ‘mattifying’ effect. It uses almost entirely natural ingredients too, something I’m trying to be more conscious of. I love the subtle, floral fragrance of this but if you’re after fragrance-free this might not be for you.
3. Olay Regenerist Replenishing Cream
If I’ve been using lots of blemish treatments, I like to use this Olay cream. It makes my skin feel soft and smooth – ideal after harsh treatments. Despite not being oil-free, it does control shine extremely well.
